.
Welcome to a new week of school.
This is what we will be doing Week of March 23, 2020
I hope you and your family are well during this difficult time. The uncertainty of how we will proceed has been difficult for all.
This coming week we will begin phasing into virtual learning. I do have a Zoom virtual meeting set up tomorrow morning at 10:00. You should have all received an invite through your emails. In addition you have or will be setting up your child's ipad for Seesaw and student accounts on Classroom Dojo. Throughout the week, I will be sending information for additonal programs to add which we will be using over the next few weeks. If you do not have an ipad, you can pick one up at school for your child on Wednesday between the hours of 12:00 to 1:00.
Students will also be receiving a learning packet which you can pick up at that time or if you are able to print the pdf you do not need to come to school. FYI the file is large. The learning packet will be in addition to planned lessons in the next few weeks. The lessons will be fun, not requiring lots of time on your part, and allow students to work independently. I know how stressful this is for everyone. We will get through this.

Week of August 19, 2019
We have had a great start to our school year. The students have adjusted wonderfully and I am so proud of them all. We are learning to make new friends, follow classroom rules and routines, and gain independence. I love seeing the students enter the classroom each morning with a smile and ready to begin our day.
This is what we will be doing this week:
Literacy- We will read Chicka Chicka Boom Boom to help us learn our letters. We will begin learning to make a prediction and make connections to our reading.
Phonics- This week we will begin ABC Bootcamp. You should have received information about this in your Monkey Binder. Please check your child’s date for sharing their assigned letter. We will focus on a different letter for 26 days and end with an ABC fashion show. Hint: please start saving 1 large brown grocery bag for the fashion show.
Math- Most students can count to 30! Great job! This week we will begin Pearson Math. This is the math curriculum we will use throughout the school year. At the beginning of each unit, I will send home a newsletter explaining what we will be doing throughout the unit. In this unit we will be identifying numbers 1-5. I will also be sending home a math interactive reader story called Count The Eggs on Wednesday. Count that as your 20 minutes of reading for that evening. Please sign and return on Thursday for a DoJo homework point so I know your child shared with you.
Social Studies- We will learn about the Plato character trait of the month RESPECT as well as review classroom and playground rules. We will also meet Tabby Cat and Tom Cat (puppets) who will help us learn social skills. This week we will learn about taking turns and following directions.
Continue to do 20 minutes of reading each night with your child’s book of choice. Later in the year I will begin sending home emergent readers to read together. You may always use those or any book as your 20 minute reading. I will collect RED reading folders each Friday. Please complete the reading log to turn in then. I will give one DoJo homework point to the children who return this. This week your child will also begin getting Math homework to reinforce what we learn at school. This should take about 5-10 minutes at most. Have a great week!
